Do I need insurance for Zenbody, and can I use my HSA or FSA?

By Zenbody Published 2 min read

The short answer

You don’t need insurance for Zenbody. You can often pay with an FSA or HSA card too, and Zenbody sends itemized receipts. Your plan decides what’s eligible, and some plans want a Letter of Medical Necessity first.

How paying works

Zenbody is self-pay. You pay by card at checkout, so there’s no insurance claim to file and no prior authorization to wait on. And if your coverage changes, your price doesn’t.

So what does it cost? Compounded semaglutide runs $149 for month one and $249 a month after that as an injection, or $199 then $299 as a tablet. Compounded tirzepatide is $179 then $299 as an injection, or $299 then $349 as a tablet. That covers your clinician, the medication and shipping. No membership fee sits on top. Every price, month one and after.

Using an FSA or HSA card

  1. Ask your plan first. Your plan administrator, not Zenbody, decides what counts.
  2. Use the card at checkout. It works like a debit card.
  3. Hang on to the itemized receipt. Plans sometimes ask for proof later, and it’s easier to save it now than hunt for it in April.
  4. Check on paperwork. If your plan wants a Letter of Medical Necessity, they’ll say so.

If your plan is dropping GLP‑1 coverage

Some employer plans change what they cover at the start of a new plan year, often January 1. If yours is, you can still apply here. Tell the clinician what you take now. They’ll review it with the rest of your history and decide whether a compounded GLP‑1 is right for you. One thing to keep in mind: compounded medications are different products from the brand medications your plan covers today. Switching to Zenbody walks through the steps.
